AMIRANDES RESORT, CRETE, GREECE
Located on the northern coast of Crete, the new Amirandes resort opened its doors in August 2007 following major refurbishment work with a brief to create a sleek, contemporary 5-star resort for the island.
Designed as a series of interlocking courtyards, each sensitively landscaped with a simplistic but natural vocabulary of materials where water is the overriding theme. Simple geometry and axial vistas have been created through a mixture of stone clad architectural colonnades and contemporary pergola structures.
Central to it all is the large formal lagoon courtyard where dinners and bar users sit waist high against the shimmering water.
